Kelly Clarkson Cancels Benefit Concert After Ex-Husband’s Death

Singer Kelly Clarkson has cancelled her appearance at a benefit concert in support of Texas flood victims due to personal circumstances following the death of her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.

The “Band Together Texas” event, held on August 17 at Moody Center in Austin, was initially set to feature performances from Lambert and McCollum alongside other notable musicians. Clarkson’s name had been removed from the lineup after she originally announced her participation in July.

Blackstock died of melanoma on August 7 at age 48. The talent manager had bravely battled cancer for over three years before passing away peacefully surrounded by his family.

Clarkson postponed several Las Vegas residency shows to be with her children while Blackstock was ill, writing publicly about the challenges of balancing work and family life. Country singer Reba McEntire shared a tribute to Blackstock on Instagram, remembering his “legacy and laughter” and wishing him well on his journey.

The benefit concert will now go ahead as planned, supporting victims of the July Texas floods through donations from fans or ticket sales.
