Battlefield 6’s latest map additions have sparked skepticism among players, with many questioning the game’s definition of “all-out warfare.” The new map, Empire State, is the smallest one yet, with no vehicles and an infantry-only focus. This has led to concerns that Battlefield 6 is prioritizing a more Call of Duty-style experience.
According to DICE lead producer David Sirland, large maps exist in the game, but their size is affected by speed. However, some players feel that this excuse doesn’t address their concerns about the lack of large-scale battles. The game’s playlist labels have also been called into question, with the new Attack & Defend mode listed as “large-scale battles” despite its smaller map.
To determine how much large-scale Battlefield-ing we can expect from the game’s nine launch maps, PC Gamer analyzed the number of vehicles on each map. The results show that only three maps meet the criteria for a full experience of transports, tanks, helicopters, and jets. This has left many fans feeling disappointed, expecting a more expansive gameplay experience.
As the beta gets underway, it remains to be seen how well these concerns will be addressed. With the launch date approaching, fans are bracing themselves for a potential clash of expectations versus reality.
