Commanders’ Offense Faces Test Without Key Players

The Washington Commanders’ offense, led by coach Kliff Kingsbury, has struggled this summer due to key players missing substantial practice time. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who is also seeking a contract extension, has been working with trainers and hasn’t had extensive contact with the team. McLaurin’s absence, combined with injuries to starting right guard Sam Cosmi and left guard Brandon Coleman, has disrupted the offense.

Kingsbury acknowledges that the lack of cohesion among players will make it difficult for the team to determine its effectiveness until key players return to practice. The coach emphasized the importance of on-field work in building relationships and chemistry among teammates. Despite last season’s success, including a strong performance from quarterback Jayden Daniels, Kingsbury prioritizes time spent together on the field over classroom instruction.

The absence of McLaurin, Cosmi, and Coleman has left the team with an uncertain starting lineup. With the regular season approaching in three weeks, Kingsbury is focused on getting his players back to full strength and rebuilding the offense from scratch.
