As the new iPhone season approaches in September, Apple fans are eagerly waiting to know more about the upcoming iPhone 17 models. Based on rumors and leaks, here’s what we think we know so far.
The expected iPhone 17 lineup includes a base model, Pro model, and Pro Max model, similar to previous years. However, there might be an ultra-thin model called the iPhone 17 Air, potentially replacing the Plus model. Leaks suggest the Air will have a thickness of around 5-6mm, making it Apple’s slimmest iPhone yet.
The release date for the iPhone 17 is predicted to be in the second week of September, with Tuesday, Sept. 9 being a likely announcement date and Friday, Sept. 19 being the official release date.
As for the specs, we can expect:
* Displays: 6.3-inch for the base model, 6.65-inch for the iPhone 17 Air, 6.3-inch for the Pro model, and 6.7-inch for the Pro Max model.
* High refresh rates: Both the iPhone 17 and 17 Air might feature 120Hz displays, a significant upgrade from previous Apple devices.
* A19 chips: The base model will likely have a regular A19 chip, while the Pro and Pro Max models will have more powerful A19 Pro chips.
The camera upgrades are also expected to be notable:
* Selfie cameras: A bigger sensor is rumored, with 24MP selfie lenses on the new iPhones.
* Telephoto lens: The Pro models might have three 48MP lenses, a significant upgrade from last year’s 12MP telephoto lens.
Color options for the iPhone 17 are still unknown, but leaks suggest that the Pro models will come in orange, black, white, and dark blue. The base model and Air seem to have more subdued color options.
For now, there’s no official word on an iPhone Fold or a foldable iPhone launch until 2026.
