Acura Unveils Electric RSX SUV Concept, First on New Zero Platform

Acura is reviving the iconic RSX nameplate with a sporty electric SUV that marks the beginning of its new lineup based on Honda’s Zero global EV platform. The concept, unveiled at Monterey Car Week, promises to deliver Acura Precision Crafted Performance brand DNA through an aggressive design and cutting-edge technology.

The RSX is set to be built on the same production line as the Acura Integra, but its sporty sedan roots are far from evident in this all-electric performance SUV. The vehicle boasts a sleek yet aggressive design with a focus on aerodynamic performance, according to Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura Creative Director.

In terms of powertrain, the RSX will feature a potent dual-motor all-wheel drive setup, sport-tuned suspension, and Brembo brakes – all standard in the new model. The vehicle is also equipped with Honda’s ASIMO operating system, which offers personalized experiences and machine learning capabilities to enhance the driving experience.

Acura has announced that the RSX will be the first vehicle to utilize the brand’s top-of-class driver assistive technologies and will boast bi-directional charging capabilities, allowing it to power devices on the go and provide back power to homes. The company plans to launch a series of new EVs based on its in-house global EV platform: Zero, with the RSX concept serving as an initial preview.

While Acura’s electric offerings are still limited, particularly in North America, this concept represents a significant step forward for the brand. With its aggressive design and advanced technology, the RSX promises to redefine the Acura brand around timeless beauty and high-tech performance.
