Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Enhanced Edition Sees Significant Performance Boost

Relic Entertainment’s remastered version of Dawn of War is a return to one of the best real-time strategy games ever made. The Enhanced Edition brings improved performance, modern compatibility, enhanced mod support, and better visuals. With a 64-bit program instead of a 32-bit one, it can now handle more RAM, allowing for massive unit spawns.

A recent experiment by mod developer Gunnisson showed that the game’s capability to spawn units is significantly higher than before. The game easily handled over 10,000 Orks without crashing and continued to run at “10 seconds-per-frame” until hitting a limit of 47,504 units. This significant performance boost allows for truly insane behavior in the game, giving modders more space to create their chaotic creations.

The Enhanced Edition’s new performance overhaul also means better stability and pathing, even with massive crowds of units on screen. With this level of power, it’s unlikely that a single-player player would be able to spawn over 47,000 units, but the potential for chaos is still there.
