The New England Patriots sent out their starting offense to handle the first two drives of their preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday. Despite a joint-practice showing that favored the Vikings, the Patriots’ starters showed signs of improvement.
The No. 1 unit scored a touchdown and punted once, with quarterback Drake Maye making four of seven passes for 47 yards. A nearly intercepted pass was tipped by receiver Mack Hollins. Rookie running back TreyVeon Henderson scored on an eight-yard run in the second drive after a punt return set up near midfield.
The Vikings did not play any of their starters, giving the Patriots’ offense a chance to showcase its capabilities against a depleted Minnesota team.
