UN Reports 1,760 Palestinian Deaths in Gaza Amid Aiding Efforts

The United Nations has reported at least 1,760 Palestinians killed while trying to access humanitarian aid in Gaza since late May. The majority were shot by Israeli forces near distribution sites and convoy routes.

Gaza’s civil defense agency confirmed that 23 people were killed on Friday, including 12 waiting for aid. This marks a significant increase from the 1,373 deaths reported on August 1.

Residents have reported intensified airstrikes in recent days, while Hamas has condemned “aggressive” ground incursions. UN-backed experts warn of famine across Gaza due to a five-month blockade that has choked off food and aid.

The health ministry has reported 239 starvation-related deaths, including 106 children. Israeli strikes have contributed to the high death toll, with 54 reported in the past 24 hours. The overall death toll since October 7 is 61,776, mostly women and children.

Independent estimates suggest the true toll may be higher, with over 154,000 injured and thousands missing or buried under rubble.
