Measles Outbreak Spreads in Grand Junction Area

A measles outbreak has been reported in the Grand Junction area of Colorado, with a new case confirmed in Mesa County. The patient, who is unvaccinated, contracted the disease locally, according to health officials.

The latest case brings the total number of measles cases in Colorado in 2025 to 20, with 13 cases involving unvaccinated individuals or unknown vaccination status. Measles is highly contagious and can be spread through close contact with an infected person.

Residents who may have been exposed are advised to take precautions to avoid further transmission. They should watch for symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes, followed by a rash on the face and body.

If symptoms develop, individuals are encouraged to seek medical attention from their primary care provider or schedule an urgent care appointment in advance. Healthcare officials are urging caution to prevent the spread of the disease.
