Ford Unveils GT Mk IV Track Monster to Rival Corvette ZR1X

Ford has built its latest track-focused supercar, the GT Mk IV, which boasts an astonishing 820 horsepower and weighs just 2,755 pounds. The car’s lightweight carbon-fiber monocoque chassis and advanced aerodynamics make it a formidable opponent on the track.

The GT Mk IV is a direct counterpoint to Chevrolet’s Corvette ZR1X, which recently set the fastest American Nürburgring record ever with its 1,250-horsepower. Ford’s new car extracts even more weight savings than the Corvette, thanks to its unique chassis design and advanced engineering.

While the Corvette is designed for both on-track performance and luxury comfort, the GT Mk IV is a pure track monster. Its 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 produces 820 horsepower, backed by carbon brakes, a seven-speed sequential gearbox, and Formula One-derived shocks. The car’s aerodynamics are optimized with wings, diffusers, and other features to produce an impressive 2,400 pounds of downforce.

The GT Mk IV is the most capable version of the GT production car, and its track-focused design makes it one of the most exciting cars to drive. With a production run limited to just 67 models, Ford is now open to customer orders until October 15. Buyers will receive a private, factory-supported track day complete with engineer support.

The GT Mk IV represents Ford’s commitment to building high-performance supercars that rival the best in the industry. As the Detroit muscle makers continue to push the boundaries of speed and agility, it remains to be seen how the Corvette ZR1X and other rivals will respond.
