US Apple Prices Soar Amid Tariffs and Storm Damage

US manufacturers have raised prices at the fastest pace in over three years, largely due to new tariffs introduced by President Donald Trump. This increase is expected to hit consumers in various sectors, including food items.

The wholesale price of vegetables has seen a significant rise, with numbers showing an increase of 39% between June and July 2025. Despite this, some farmers are finding ways to adapt. Mike Stepps, part-owner of Stepps Hillcrest Orchard in Henderson County, North Carolina, says his business will maintain its prices despite the tariffs.

“We’re going to keep our prices about what they were last year,” Stepps said. “We appreciate our customers and want to help them.” The farm’s grand reopening was a success, with customers coming out in support of the business after it was forced to close for a month due to storm damage.
