Israel’s next phase of its war against Hamas has been revealed by the country’s Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir. During a field tour in Gaza, Zamir announced plans to move forward with the momentum of “Operation Gideon’s Chariots” and focus on striking Hamas targets in Gaza City.
The plan, approved by Israel’s Security Cabinet, includes calling up over 400,000 military reservists to carry out the operation until November 30. The goal is to achieve a decisive defeat of Hamas and secure the release of hostages, with Zamir emphasizing that this remains the IDF’s top priority.
Zamir praised IDF soldiers for their months-long efforts in Gaza, highlighting the security achievements made near the Gaza Strip and in Israel communities. He acknowledged the moral duty of the IDF to bring the hostages home, regardless of their status.
This development comes as Canada prepares to recognize a Palestinian state in September, raising concerns among experts that it may complicate future peace efforts.
