Seahawks’ Defense Shines in Preseason Win Over Chiefs

The Seattle Seahawks’ starting defense made a statement in their preseason win over the Kansas City Chiefs, showcasing its talent and depth. Led by veteran safety Julian Love, who made a crucial fourth-down stop to end the drive, the unit came up big in a 33-16 victory.

Love’s play was just one of several strong performances from Seattle’s defense, which limited Kansas City to 156 total yards and nine first downs. The Chiefs rested some of their top starters, but it didn’t matter – Seattle’s secondary and defensive line were well-prepared and tackled effectively.

The Seahawks’ coaching staff praised the young players on defense, saying they “balled” in the game. Brandon Pili, a third-year nose tackle, also had a standout performance, tackling Chiefs running back Elijah Mitchell in the end zone for a safety.

While the win wasn’t a perfect one, with Seattle struggling to hold onto a 16-3 halftime lead against the Raiders in their previous game, it was still a promising sign. With many of their key players expected to return from injury this season, the Seahawks’ defense has a chance to do some really good things.

“We’re tackling the details of everything instead of the big picture,” Love said of the team’s approach. “That allows us to be ahead of the pace and chase perfection.”
