Nexon Accused of Using AI-Generated Ads, Inflating Reality as Real Creators

Nexon, the publisher of The First Descendant, has faced accusations of using AI-generated advertisements for their game. At least one ad is claimed to be a clone of a real content creator, DanieltheDemon, sparking concerns over the use of generative AI in advertising.

Players have reported seeing multiple AI-generated ads on TikTok, including one that bears an uncanny resemblance to DanieltheDemon’s content. The issue lies not with the use of generative AI itself but rather its misuse for advertisements that deceive players into thinking it’s genuine content from real creators.

The situation is further complicated by Nexon’s alleged practice of deleting comments from players who express their dissatisfaction with the ads, only to re-upload them when faced with backlash. The company has not publicly commented on the issue at this time.

This controversy follows a similar incident involving 11 Bit Studios, another game developer, which was accused of using AI prompts in subtitles and flavor text without disclosing it. Nexon’s use of AI-generated ads raises questions about transparency and honesty in advertising practices.
