Actress Gal Gadot has attributed the failure of Disney’s live-action Snow White remake at the box office to pressure in Hollywood to criticize Israel. In an interview on Israeli Channel Keshet 12, Gadot said she was surprised by the movie’s poor performance after it grossed $205 million worldwide against a budget of $270 million.
The film faced controversy due to lead actress Rachel Zegler’s inflammatory social media posts, including “F— Donald Trump” and “And always remember, free Palestine.” Despite producer Marc Platt’s efforts to persuade her to remove the posts, Zegler refused. Gadot claimed that she enjoyed working with Zegler, contradicting speculation of tension between them.
Gadot, an IDF veteran, said she was disappointed by the movie’s poor reception and attributed it to the backlash against Israel in Hollywood. She stated that while context can be explained, ultimately people decide for themselves, and external pressures can affect a film’s box office performance.
