Gal Gadot Clarifies Comments on Israel Sentiment and Disney’s Snow White Flop

Gal Gadot has clarified her remarks about the supposed reason behind Disney’s live-action Snow White movie failing. In an interview with a group of autistic interviewers, she stated that anti-Israel sentiment was a major factor in the film’s poor performance. However, speaking on Instagram over the weekend, Gadot explained her perspective further.

Gadot expressed that when she joined the interview, she was “honored” to share her thoughts and felt a deep connection with her questioners. She claimed that many critics criticized her not just as an actress but as an Israeli, which she found deeply personal and emotional. However, Gadot emphasized that the film’s failure cannot be attributed solely to external pressures.

Snow White received mostly negative reviews from critics, with some accusing the movie of downplaying the romance between the heroine and prince in favor of a more socially conscious story. The portrayal of the seven dwarves was also criticized. Furthermore, many on social media accused Gadot of being complicit in war crimes in Gaza due to her past service in the IDF.

Gadot’s remarks were sparked by the backlash against her involvement with Disney’s Snow White, which cost $270 million to produce but only took in $205 million at the box office. The movie received mostly negative reviews, with Rotten Tomatoes showing 39% positive reviews.

In response to criticism, Gadot shared her philosophy of life: “Run forward. Even if you fall, fail, or face bad reviews – just keep moving forward.” She also made it clear that she has already bounced back from the failure of Snow White and is continuing to move forward.
