ISS National Lab and NASA Host Webinar on Upcoming Space Research Mission

The International Space Station (ISS) National Laboratory and NASA are hosting a webinar to discuss research launching on SpaceX’s upcoming 33rd commercial resupply services mission. The mission, scheduled for August 24, 2025, will carry experiments that could lead to new treatments for heart disease, neurodegenerative conditions, and bone loss.

Researchers from various institutions, including the Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine and Red Hat, will present their projects during the webinar. These projects focus on tissue engineering, data processing in space, and the effects of microgravity on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.

Specifically, researchers will discuss:

– Liver Tissue in Space: A project to study engineered liver tissue containing blood vessels in microgravity
– Orbital Data Center: An initiative to increase in-orbit data storage and edge-processing capabilities
– Microgravity-Induced Bone Loss: An investigation into the effects of microgravity on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells
– Stem Cell Manufacturing in Microgravity: A study on whether human induced pluripotent stem cells grow faster in microgravity

The webinar will be held on August 19, 2025, at 1 p.m. EDT and can be registered for via Zoom or watched through the ISS National Lab livestream channel. Media representatives are also invited to submit questions during the event.
