Syracuse Wins Starting QB Job with Notre Dame Transfer

Syracuse Orange have named Steve Angeli their new starting quarterback. Angeli, who transferred from Notre Dame, edged out Rickie Collins from LSU in a bid to take the top spot.

Angeli spent three years at Notre Dame before making the move to Syracuse. He showed his skills last season as Riley Leonard’s backup, and impressed in the Sun Bowl with 15 of 19 completed passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns.

After Leonard was injured in the Orange Bowl against Penn State, Angeli led the team on a field goal drive before giving way to the starter. Leonard praised Angeli’s performance, setting the stage for his new teammate to take over as starting quarterback.
