Grammarly has introduced a new document-based interface built on Coda, its recently acquired productivity startup. The new platform features an AI assistant that can summarize text, answer questions, and provide writing suggestions. It also includes several AI tools, such as “Reader Reactions,” which offers feedback based on reader personas, and “Paraphraser,” which modifies tone according to user preferences.
The company has also added agents to detect plagiarism or AI-generated content. While the accuracy of these agents is uncertain, Grammarly claims that its tool is the most accurate in the market. The goal of this tool is not to enforce policies but rather to provide a warning to students about potential AI-generated text before submission.
Grammarly’s new interface strikes a balance between helping students write using AI and detecting AI-generated writing. According to the company, it has a “moral imperative” to teach students how to use AI effectively. The company plans to integrate more AI agents into its products in the future, as it did when acquiring email client Superhuman last month.
In May, Grammarly raised $1 billion to bolster its sales and marketing efforts. With this new platform, the company aims to provide valuable insights and feedback to users.
