Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham Out for Season with MCL Tear

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham will miss the rest of the 2025 WNBA season due to a torn MCL in her right knee. The injury occurred during Sunday’s game against the Connecticut Sun, and she is now expected to make a full recovery. This marks the third season-ending injury for the team’s guards this month, joining Aari McDonald (broken foot) and Sydney Colson (ACL tear). Guard Caitlin Clark remains sidelined indefinitely with a right groin injury. The Fever signed Shey Peddy to a seven-day hardship contract and released guard Kyra Lambert in response. With less than a month left until the postseason, Indiana’s playoff positioning is under scrutiny. Coach Stephanie White expressed optimism about Clark’s potential return by the end of the regular season.
