Spotify Introduces Custom Transitions for Playlists

Spotify has launched a new feature that allows users to create more professional and personalized playlists. The custom transitions feature lets users add seamless connections between tracks, using preset options like fade, rise, or blend. To use the feature, simply open any playlist and select “Mix” from the toolbar.

Users can customize their track with different transition styles, adjusting settings for volume, EQ, and effects, while also utilizing waveform and beat data to find the best spot in each track to begin the transition. The platform will automatically display key and beats per minute information for each track, making it easier for novice audio mixers to get started.

This feature is designed to appeal to playlist experts and music fans, who have collectively created nearly 9 billion playlists on Spotify’s platform to date. It complements other updates that give users more control over their listening experience, such as tools to add, sort, and edit playlists, customize the genre of Discover Weekly playlists, snooze tracks, and make voice requests to AI DJs.

Premium subscribers will be able to save and share their mixed playlists with friends on social media or invite other subscribers to collaborate. The mix can be toggled on and off at any time, allowing users to switch back to traditional playlists when needed.
