GameScience, the developer of record-breaking action game Black Myth: Wukong, has revealed its sequel, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025. The new game is a single-player action role-playing game rooted in ancient Chinese fantasy and draws inspiration from the classic tale “Zhong Kui Banishing Evil.”
According to host Geoff Keighley, Zhong Kui is the “ghost-catching god who wanders between hell and earth.” However, Keighley also hinted that Black Myth: Wukong’s storyline won’t end with the announcement of its sequel. This suggests that DLC may still be on the way.
Black Myth: Zhong Kui is currently in early development, and a release date has not been confirmed. The game promises to deliver distinctive experiences and gameplay features that push the limits of what’s possible, while also addressing past flaws and regrets.
A teaser trailer was released during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, showcasing the game’s unique style and setting. As with the original Black Myth: Wukong, no in-game footage is available at this time due to the game’s early development stage.
