Tesla Reveals China-Focused Three-Row Model Y L

Tesla has officially announced a revamped, three-row Model Y for its Chinese lineup, dubbed the Model Y L. The electric vehicle giant teased the upcoming model on Weibo, highlighting its longer wheelbase and extra seating room. Key features include redesigned wheels, new badging, and retractable armrests in the back seats.

The Model Y L is set to launch in China’s third or fourth quarter and will start at approximately $47,000. The vehicle’s 120-inch wheelbase and three rows of seating are expected to cater to growing demand for three-row SUVs. While there’s no word on an American release, the model’s potential success could boost Tesla’s sales in the US market.

Tesla is competing with EV giants like Xiaomi and BYD in the Chinese auto market, where the Model Y L will be a significant addition. The company has struggled U.S. sales in 2025, partly due to CEO Elon Musk’s close association with President Donald Trump.
