US broadcaster Tegna has agreed to be acquired by Nexstar, but a rival offer from Sinclair Inc. threatens to block the deal. The counteroffer of $25 to $30 per share could trump the current $22 per-share agreement reached with Nexstar. Regulatory changes aimed at lifting TV station ownership caps may also be on the table, as the Federal Communications Commission reconsiders limits on station ownership.
