The preseason has kicked off for the 2025 NFL season, and we’re taking a closer look at how some top rookies performed in their second full week of action. Here’s our assessment of one rookie from each game:
* No. 1 overall pick C.J. Ward showed promise, but struggled with third-down incompletions against the Falcons. Despite that, he made a great throw on a similar route and hit his target for a 35-yard gain.
* Simmons played healthy and looked impressive, thwarting an edge rusher twice and showing quickness off the snap. However, he gave up inside runs to Seattle’s tackles.
* Marshall played exclusively in the slot against Detroit, using his size and physicality to make plays. He was aware in zone coverage but struggled with man coverage.
* Umanmielen saw extra snaps due to an injury and struggled to rush the quarterback, but made some impressive run stops and forced a punt by stopping a middle screen.
* Belton committed five penalties, including unnecessary roughness, but looked powerful as a run blocker at right tackle.
* Henderson showed off his multifaceted skill set, playing well on offense and defense. He converted a third-and-10 on the ground and scored a touchdown on his final carry.
* Campbell covered a lot of ground in coverage, making tackles and using heavy hands to beat blocks.
* Jeanty had a strong showing against the 49ers, displaying downhill aggression and strength to push safety into the end zone.
* Booker was solid despite facing a tough Ravens defensive line, creating creases for his backs with his upper body and legs.
* Harris looked like an immediate starter, catching six passes for 85 yards and making big plays on both offense and defense.
* Moore played physical against the Giants, lining up in various spots and effectively covering receivers.
* Harmon looked natural playing outside and inside, pushing the pocket as a pass rusher and holding his own against double teams.
* Barron showed speed off the edge and physicality fighting through blocks, but struggled with coverage on underneath routes.
* Banks stayed engaged with quick feet and strong hands against Jaguars starters, making some impressive plays in run blocking and pass protection.
* Loveland flashed promise as a blocker and showed agility on one combo block. However, he was beaten by veteran linebacker Dorian Williams to reach the ball carrier on one play.
These evaluations are not predictions of how players will fare in the upcoming season or long-term career projections, but rather a snapshot of their performance in Week 2 of the preseason.
