Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 7S Gen 4, a mid-range chipset that replaces the existing Snapdragon 7 series. However, unlike its predecessor, this new chipset offers minimal performance gains. The Snapdragon 7S Gen 4 is only 7% faster than the original model, with a 200 MHz boost clock on its prime core.
The main technical difference between the two chipsets lies in display support, as the new chipset can handle up to 2,900 x 1,300-pixel displays at a peak refresh rate of 144 Hz. Other than this, there are no notable changes from the Snapdragon 7S Gen 3.
The Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus is expected to debut with the new Snapdragon 7S Gen 4, replacing its predecessor powered by the older chipset. This move indicates that Qualcomm plans to upgrade to the second-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite later this summer.
