Google is rolling out temperature scheduling controls for its older Nest thermostats, allowing users to set specific temperatures for heating and cooling at different times of the day. The new feature, available in the Google Home app, brings support to several models, including the 3rd gen Learning Thermostat and E models. This update will help users save energy while maintaining comfort levels.
Existing schedules from the Nest app will be automatically carried over to the Home app, allowing for easier management of temperature events. However, not all Nest thermostats are eligible for this feature. The 1st and 2nd gen Learning Thermostats, as well as the European version of the 2nd gen model, will no longer receive software updates starting October 25, 2025.
The update also introduces new UI elements that apply to all Nest Thermostats, including the latest 4th gen model. Users can now manually set schedules or utilize Auto-Schedule to save energy and maintain comfort levels.
