Google has unveiled the Pixel Buds 2A, a more affordable version of its flagship Pixel Buds Pro 2 earbuds. The Pixel Buds 2A is essentially a slightly stripped-down version of the Pixel Buds Pro 2, with some notable differences.
The Pixel Buds 2A shares a similar design with the Pixel Buds Pro 2 but lacks certain features such as wireless charging, a voice accelerometer, and head tracking for spatial audio. The earbuds are powered by the Google Tensor A1 chip and have 11mm dynamic speakers, producing clear sound.
However, the Pixel Buds 2A has some compromises, including reduced battery life (7 hours with noise canceling on) and lower-quality noise cancellation using Silent Seal 1.5 instead of Silent Seal 2.0. The earbuds also weigh slightly less but are made from a higher percentage of recycled materials.
Despite these differences, the Pixel Buds 2A is priced at $130, making it a more affordable alternative to the Pixel Buds Pro 2. Google has confirmed that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will receive some new features via firmware updates later this year, including adaptive audio mode and Gemini features.
The Pixel Buds 2A are available for preorder now in hazel or iris color options and ship on October 9th.
