Microsoft Addresses Windows 11 24H2 SSD Failure Issues

A recent update in Windows 11 24H2 has caused data corruption and failure issues for some users with SSD and HDD models. The issue affects drives with Phison NAND controllers, leading to failures during heavy write operations.

Microsoft has acknowledged the problem and is working with partners to resolve it. However, a fix is not yet available. In the meantime, users are advised to avoid writing large files or multiple large files in quick succession, and instead divide them into smaller batches over time.

The issue was first reported by a Japanese PC building enthusiast who experienced issues after installing the KB5063878 security update and the KB5062660 preview update. Affected drives include those from SanDisk Extreme Pro, Corsair Force MP600, Maxio SSD, KIOXIA EXCERIA PLUS G4, and other Phison PS5012-E12 and InnoGrit controllers.

Phison has also confirmed the issue and stated that it is working with Microsoft to resolve the problem. Until a fix is available, users are advised to be cautious when writing large files or handling sensitive data on affected systems.
