Measles Outbreaks Confirmed in Colorado and Montana

Measles cases have been confirmed in Colorado and Montana, with potential exposure reported at two airports: Denver International Airport and Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.

Colorado has reported two recent measles cases, one of which is in Mesa County. The patient’s vaccination status is unknown, but they may have had a common exposure with another case reported last week.

The US Department of Health also warned about potential exposure to measles at Denver International Airport on August 12, related to an out-of-state traveler. The Montana health department has similarly cautioned people who were potentially exposed to monitor for symptoms until September 2 after a notification was received about a measles infection at Bozeman airport on August 15.

Montana’s first case in decades, a minor with one dose of the measles vaccine, has been confirmed by Lewis and Clark Public Health. The patient followed diagnosis and treatment protocols and there is no evidence of transmission or public exposure sites.
