Alaska Airlines has launched a new premium credit card, the Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite, valued at $395 per year. This move comes as part of the carrier’s effort to join the industry’s high-spending customer competition and create a combined frequent flyer program, called Atmos, with Hawaiian Airlines.
The Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite card includes perks such as airport lounge passes, instant vouchers for delays, and discounted global companion fares. Travelers will have three options to earn points: by distance (1 point per mile), by price (5 points per $1 spent), or by flights (500 points per segment).
Elite frequent flyer tiers are also changing, requiring customers to earn more points to reach top levels. The Atmos Platinum tier now requires 80,000 points next year and 135,000 for the Atmos Titanium tier, up from previous requirements.
Although Alaska plans to keep its brand operating separately from Hawaiian, the combined loyalty program will provide travelers with more flexibility in earning points. Alaska aims to offer premium experiences and exclusive benefits, such as free premium-class seats on partner airlines.
The launch of the Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite card is part of a broader industry trend, with other airlines investing heavily in premium products to attract higher-spending customers. With this move, Alaska Airlines joins the ranks of JetBlue Airways and others, signaling its commitment to providing high-end travel experiences for loyal customers.
