Vikings Trade Defensive Tackle Harrison Phillips to Jets

The Minnesota Vikings have traded defensive tackle Harrison Phillips to the New York Jets in exchange for draft capital, according to the team’s announcement on Wednesday. The trade comes six days before NFL teams must finalize their 53-man rosters.

Phillips, who joined the Vikings as a free agent in 2022, has been an integral part of the team’s defense. He started all 51 regular-season games and two playoff contests over his three seasons with the team, totaling 207 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and seven passes defensed.

The Vikings expressed their gratitude for Phillips’ contributions to the team and the community through a statement from General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Head Coach Kevin O’Connell. The two leaders praised Phillips’ work ethic, toughness, and character, saying he helped shape the team’s culture and made a positive impact on and off the field.

The trade marks a significant move for the Vikings as they finalize their roster ahead of the 2025 season. With Phillips gone, the team must fill the void left by his defensive presence, but they will receive compensation in the form of draft capital to aid in their rebuild efforts.
