The PGA Tour’s season finale, the TOUR Championship, is just around the corner, and several top players are peaking in their form ahead of the event. Here are five golfers to watch at East Lake Golf Club.
Scottie Scheffler, currently ranked as the world number one, has been dominating his opponents with impressive performances over the past few months. His putting game has seen a significant improvement, and he ranks 16th on TOUR in putting. Scheffler is a strong favorite to win the FedExCup and has not finished worse than eighth since THE PLAYERS Championship.
Ludvig Åberg, also known for his improved form this season, has gained strokes on approach and off the tee in every start since the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. He was in the second-to-last group in the final two rounds of the BMW Championship, ultimately finishing seventh. Åberg’s swing has been fixed, and it’s come at a great time.
Tommy Fleetwood is playing more consistently than ever before. The Englishman ranks third in Scoring Average on TOUR, behind only Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy. He has finished in the top-25 in over 75 percent of his starts and has been in strong positions despite disappointments. Fleetwood’s case for winning soon is getting stronger.
Cameron Young has been playing some of the best golf of his career, with a streak of five events in which he gained more than a stroke on the field each week. His recent form was highlighted by a definitive win at the Wyndham Championship and backing it up over the last month. Young ranks as the third-best player in the world over the last 30 days per Data Golf.
Harry Hall, who made his way into East Lake from outside the top-30 bubble last week, has quietly strung together an impressive summer. He ranks first on TOUR in putting and has secured his first TOUR Championship appearance. Hall’s rise has him in the mix for the European Ryder Cup team, and another top result at the TOUR Championship would only embolden his case.
