Indie Games Delay Releases to Avoid Competition with Silksong’s September Launch

Team Cherry’s announcement of Hollow Knight: Silksong’s release date has prompted several indie game developers to delay their own games. Panik Arcade, set to launch CloverPit on September 3rd, will now release it on September 26th, citing the need for extra time to polish the game further. Similarly, Talegames’ adventure RPG Faeland is being postponed from its early access release date of September 9th, as the developer aims to secure more attention and care upon launch.

Aeternum Game Studios has delayed Aeterna Lucis, a 2D sidescroller focused on combat and exploration, until sometime in 2026. The delay allows the team to improve visibility and ensure simultaneous releases across next-generation platforms. Frogteam Games is also delaying its Stomp and the Sword of Miracles demo launch, citing difficulties in marketing an indie game.

Notable games scheduled for release during early September include Demonschool, Hell is Us, and Cronos: The New Dawn. However, it remains to be seen whether these delays are directly related to Silksong’s announcement or simply a strategic decision by developers.
