Edit Images with Google Photos by Voice Commands

Google Photos is introducing a new feature that makes editing images as easy as asking for it. Starting on Pixel 10 devices in the US, users can simply describe the edits they want to make using text or voice commands, and watch the changes appear.

The redesigned photo editor already provides AI-powered suggestions and powerful tools in one place. Now, with conversational editing capabilities, users can make stunning edits by simple gestures, one-tap suggestions, and natural language. The Gemini model helps create custom AI-powered edits that bring visions to life in seconds.

To use this feature, users don’t need to select tools or adjust sliders; they simply ask Photos for the desired edits. They can request specific changes, like “remove cars from the background,” or more general requests like “restore this old photo.” Users can also make multiple requests in a single prompt and fine-tune their image with follow-up instructions.

This feature is not only easy to use but also allows users to explore creative possibilities without worrying about tool choices. The possibilities are wide open, and all it takes is telling Photos what you want to see – from simple tweaks to complex edits.

For added transparency, Google Photos will now display information on how images were made, including C2PA Content Credentials, starting with Pixel 10 devices and gradually rolling out to Android and iOS devices. This will provide users with more insights into the editing process and help them understand how their images were created or edited.

This feature is part of a broader effort to leverage Gemini models to bring new and helpful ways to use Google Photos. With this innovation, users can now edit images with ease, explore creative possibilities, and enjoy improved transparency around image editing.
