Google Drive Adds In-Browser Video Editing via Google Vids

Google has introduced a feature that allows users to edit videos directly within Google Drive, without needing to leave the browser. The new Google Vids feature is available in compatible browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.

To access video editing, click the “Open” button on a video preview in Google Drive, which will open it in the Google Vids app. From there, you can trim the video, add text and music, and make other changes to the file.

However, not all users will have access to this feature. It is currently restricted to paid users, including those on Workspace business and enterprise plans, nonprofits, and individuals with specific add-ons such as Gemini Education or Google AI Pro. Additionally, users who purchased Gemini Business and Enterprise add-ons before their discontinuation earlier this year will also gain access.

The supported file formats for video editing in Google Vids include MP4, Quicktime, OGG, and WebM. However, there are limitations to the feature: individual clips can only be up to 35 minutes of runtime and have a maximum file size of 4GB.

This new feature is available now and can be accessed through Google Drive on compatible browsers.
