A well-known Twin Cities restaurateur has been charged with a hit-and-run after striking a bicyclist with his SUV on August 16. Mark Thomas Tinucci Sr., 70, of Cottage Grove, was charged with criminal vehicular operation in connection with the crash, which left the victim with severe injuries.
Tinucci’s SUV bore the business name, further implicating him in the incident. He allegedly drove off the scene, leaving the injured man on the pavement. The victim currently has “no sign of cognitive ability,” according to court records.
This is not Tinucci’s first brush with trouble behind the wheel; he has two prior convictions for drunken driving in Minnesota. He will appear in court on October 1 to face the charges.
Tinucci, one of three brothers who run the family’s catering and deli business, released a statement through his family spokesperson, saying they are cooperating fully with law enforcement and recognizing the seriousness of the situation.
