Yooka-Replaylee Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 with Physical Release

Yooka-Replaylee, a remastered version of the popular 3D indie platformer Yooka-Laylee, has been confirmed for release on Nintendo Switch 2. The game will feature a full physical release on cartridge, making it one of the few third-party titles to include everything on the disc.

Developed by Playtonic Games, creators behind Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country, Yooka-Replaylee promises an enhanced experience with new remixed challenges, old favorites, and exciting features like a map, shiny currency, and customization options. Players will control the lovable buddy duo Yooka and Laylee as they explore open worlds and battle against evil forces.

The game’s main plot revolves around Yooka and Laylee’s quest to stop corporate creep Capital B from stealing books to turn them into cash. Along the way, players must collect magical Pagies, overcome obstacles, and solve puzzles in colorful worlds filled with collectibles.

Yooka-Replaylee boasts improved graphics, new challenges, and enhanced gameplay mechanics. The game also features a beautifully arranged orchestral score, including music from renowned video game composers Grant Kirkhope and David Wise.

Pre-orders for the physical release are now open, with a release date to be announced soon. Playtonic Games has also confirmed that they will showcase the game at the Mix Fall Showcase on August 29, 2025, along with a new teaser trailer.
