Ortega vs Sterling Set for Lightweight Showdown at UFC Fight Night

UFC officials have confirmed a featherweight matchup between Brian Ortega and Aljamain Sterling will take place on Saturday at UFC Fight Night in Shanghai, despite the fighters weighing in at 153 pounds instead of their intended weight classes. The bout, scheduled for five rounds, will see both fighters compete at the 155-pound lightweight limit.

Ortega (16-4) has struggled to make the featherweight limit of 145 pounds, while Sterling (24-5) moved up from 135 pounds after losing his title to Sean O’Malley in August 2019. The two fighters are working towards their respective goals: Ortega seeking a win to boost his career and Sterling aiming for a second UFC belt.

Ortega has struggled in recent fights, going 1-3 in his last four appearances. However, he has shown resilience by fighting against top contenders Alexander Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez, who currently hold undisputed or interim titles.
