Arsenal Completes £60m Signing of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace

Eberechi Eze’s transfer saga has come to an end, with the 27-year-old attacking midfielder completing a £60m move from Crystal Palace to Arsenal. The deal was struck after a surprise U-turn by Palace, who initially refused to sell but ultimately accepted Arsenal’s offer.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was instrumental in convincing Eze to join the Gunners, and the player has revealed that he grew up an Arsenal fan. The club had explored alternative targets, including striker Ethan Nwaneri, before focusing on Eze as their top priority.

However, Tottenham’s pursuit of Eze had accelerated after James Maddison suffered a serious ACL injury in pre-season. Spurs were willing to meet Palace’s £60m valuation but were rebuffed over the release clause. The two clubs eventually agreed on a deal worth £50m with add-ons.

Eze’s arrival is seen as a statement of ambition by Arsenal, who have also strengthened their squad through other signings, including Noni Madueke and Morgan Gyokeres. The player brings creativity, flair, and end product to the team, having scored 14 domestic goals and 11 assists for Palace last season.

While Eze’s personal terms were reportedly agreed over four years with a potential fifth-year option, he missed his initial medical due to emotional reasons, revealing that his mind was elsewhere. The deal is a significant boost for Arsenal, who have now completed two major signings ahead of the new Premier League season.
