Microsoft has confirmed the release dates for its upcoming gaming handhelds, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. The devices are set to arrive in 14 countries on October 16, including Australia, Canada, and Japan. However, Microsoft is holding back on sharing pricing details until September or October.
Asus and Microsoft made this announcement at Gamescom, citing the need for “more time to figure out the macro-economic impact to pricing.” The decision comes as market conditions continue to shift due to ever-changing US tariffs.
Dealabs had previously reported prices of €899 for the ROG Xbox Ally X and €599 for the lower-powered ROG Xbox Ally. However, Microsoft is now leaving pre-orders pending until final pricing details are confirmed.
Microsoft’s vice president, Jason Ronald, stated that finding the right balance between affordability and price point is a challenge in the mobile form factor. “We need more time to figure the macro-economic impact to pricing,” he said.
The devices will be available in multiple countries, including the US, UK, and Australia. However, availability details for Brazil, India, Indonesia, and Thailand will follow at a later date.
The ROG Xbox Ally X will arrive on October 16, while the Xbox Ally is expected to launch “early next year” in China.
