Cats Fall Short in NCAA Tournament

Kentucky’s season came to an end after a straight-set loss to top-seeded Pittsburgh in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Sophomore Brooklyn DeLeye led the team with 22 kills, but it was not enough to overcome the Panthers’ dominance. DeLeye had a .325 slugging percentage and added a service ace and two digs.

The Cats’ offense struggled to find consistency, with no other player reaching double figures in kills. Senior Megan Wilson picked up seven kills, while Emma Grome led the team with 37 assists. Senior setter Emma Grome also became Kentucky’s all-time assist leader as she finished her career.

Defensively, senior Eleanor Beavin led the team with 11 digs, while Molly Tuozzo added seven. The loss marked the end of a successful season for six seniors, who are leaving with a record of 23-8 overall and a legacy of four-straight SEC Championships and three-straight Sweet Sixteen appearances.

Kentucky’s loss ends their run in the NCAA Tournament, but the team will always be remembered for their impressive season and contributions to the program.
