Lee Corso Named Legend of the Game by Kirk Herbstreit

ESPN host Kirk Herbstreit has named longtime College GameDay host Lee Corso as the “Legend of the Game” for the 2025 preseason Herbie Awards. This honor recognizes Corso’s dedication to the show and its impact on fans over the years.

Corso, who hosted College GameDay since 1993, is known for his infectious enthusiasm and passion for college football. He brings a wealth of knowledge as a former coach, having led teams at Louisville, Indiana, and Northern Illinois. Fans have come to love Corso’s iconic mascot head picks and special appearances, including donning full costume attire.

Herbstreit praised Corso’s warm personality, energy, and ability to treat everyone with kindness. “He just always had that big smile, always had that love and always had that energy,” Herbstreit said. The show will miss Corso on air, but his legacy of treating everyone the same will be remembered.

Corso’s final appearance on College GameDay is scheduled for August 30th, where he’ll join Ohio State and Texas in a high-stakes showdown.
