Fleetwood Shares Lead at Tour Championship After Strong Round

English golfer Tommy Fleetwood fired a superb 63 to join American Russell Henley in a share of the lead at 13 under par after the second round of the Tour Championship in Atlanta. The 34-year-old made eight birdies, with only one blemish on his scorecard, and is now close to achieving his long-awaited PGA Tour victory.

Fleetwood, who has 44 top-10 finishes but no wins, is yet to let the pressure get to him despite joking about winning the FedExCup. He said he aims to be in contention more often and “keep learning from things that might have gone wrong” in past tournaments.

Henley, starting two shots clear of his playing partner Scottie Scheffler, recorded timely birdies on the 17th and 18th holes to sign for a four-under 66. American Cameron Young sits two shots back at 11 under after a scintillating performance featuring six birdies on the back nine.

The leaderboard sees Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre and Patrick Cantlay tied at 10 under, while Shane Lowry surged up the leaderboard with a remarkable birdie putt from over 97 feet. Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy enjoyed a bogey-free 67 to join Lowry at seven under overall.
