Lions Fall 26-7 in Preseason Opener

The Detroit Lions’ third straight preseason game with a touchdown for rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa, who grabbed a 33-yard score from quarterback Kyle Allen in the first quarter. The winless Texans outscored the Lions 26-7.

Allen had an impressive outing, going 5-for-5 passing for 66 yards and a touchdown, as he finished training camp strong with a passer rating of 123.6. Backup QB Jared Goff is expected to back him up in the regular season.

Quarterback Hendon Hooker’s performance was underwhelming, with just 6-of-11 passing for 70 yards and an interception. Meanwhile, linebacker Trevor Nowaske and safety Loren Strickland had standout games, with nine tackles each. Strickland even showed off his physicality on several occasions.

The team also made a decision to honor veteran defensive end Robert Porcher by inducting him into the Pride of the Lions at their home opener against Chicago on September 14. The starting lineup for Saturday’s game featured Giovanni Manu, Netane Muti, Kingsley Eguakun, Kayode Awosika, and Dan Skipper.
