The movie follows German botanist Dr. Friedrich Ritter (Jude Law) and his ill partner Dore (Vanessa Kirby), who aim to create a radical society in isolation. However, their grand plans are threatened by new arrivals, including idealistic war veteran Heinz Wittmer (Daniel Brühl) and his young wife Margret (Sydney Sweeney).
