Playtonic’s Yooka-Replaylee Gets Physical Release, Backers to Receive Toy Box

Playtonic’s upcoming remake of the 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee will be released on a physical cartridge, contrary to its original format. The game’s box art confirms that it will include the full game. No release date has been announced yet.

Backers who pledged $340 for Yooka-Laylee’s development and applied for the 64 Bit Edition will receive more than they paid for. Playtonic recently revealed on Twitter what they can expect to get in a few weeks’ time, including early access to the game through their Toy Box.

In related news, Digital Foundry took a closer look at Yooka-Laylee and its sequel Impossible Lair. The team praised the game’s technical aspects, citing superb performance.

A recent development for Playtonic fans is that the Toy Box has been released today for applicable backers. This allows players to sample an early version of the game and hunt down collectables.

The release of Yooka-Replaylee has sparked debate among gamers about its potential success. Some question whether it will attract buyers, despite receiving middling reviews on its predecessor.
