US Electronics Factory Hit in Russian Airstrike in Western Ukraine

Russian cruise missiles slammed into a U.S. electronics factory in western Ukraine on Thursday morning, causing extensive damage and injuring over a dozen people. The attack was part of Russia’s largest airstrike of the war, which involved over 570 drones and 40 missiles.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported at least 15 injuries and called it an “ordinary civilian enterprise” that produced household items like coffee machines. He accused Russia of targeting U.S.-owned businesses in Ukraine without regard for the consequences.

The company, Flex, has over 100 offices and factories worldwide and is listed on NASDAQ. The plant in Mukachevo was attacked before dawn, with around 600 workers present at the time. Many took cover due to air raid sirens, but some suffered injuries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s efforts to launch peace negotiations have been met with skepticism from both Ukraine and Russia. Trump has instructed the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to work on security guarantees for Ukraine, but a U.S. role in the war is unlikely to involve troops on the ground. The talks are still in their preliminary stages.

Many Ukrainians believe that NATO membership is the only solution to end the war, citing Russia’s fear of NATO as a deterrent. However, Russia remains opposed to Western troops in Ukraine and has vowed to veto any security guarantees for the country.

The attack on the U.S. factory comes days after Trump met with Zelenskyy and Putin separately, attempting to launch peace negotiations. Despite diplomatic efforts, neither side is willing to make significant concessions.
