Capitals Beat Sabres 4-2 Behind Tom Wilson’s Big Night

The Washington Capitals celebrated another Eras Night, defeating the Buffalo Sabres 4-2 on Saturday night. The game saw several key moments, including Jason Zucker’s early goal and Tom Wilson tying the game with a power-play strike.

Wilson struck again to give the Capitals a short-lived lead before Jiri Kulich tied it up for the Sabres. However, Dylan Strome gave Washington their lead back midway through the third period, with Jakob Chychrun adding an empty netter to seal the victory.

Tom Wilson has been on fire lately, scoring 10 points in his last nine games and taking over as the team leader in power-play goals this season. His production has ramped up significantly since Alex Ovechkin’s absence from the lineup.

The Capitals controlled the majority of the first frame and finished with double the number of shots (12-6). They also got their power play back on track for the tying goal, thanks in part to Brandon Duhaime’s speed and drive to the net.

Despite a rough second period defensively, the Capitals bounced back nicely. Martin Fehervary evened up an on-ice fight with Dylan Cozens, and the team ultimately came out on top.

The win marked Washington’s first regulation victory against the Sabres since November 8, 2021. It was also a key performance from John Carlson, who picked up three huge assists, including one on Strome’s 10th goal of the season.
