Fleetwood and Cantlay Share PGA Tour Championship Lead

Tommy Fleetwood and Patrick Cantlay are tied for the lead at the $40m Tour Championship, both one stroke ahead of Russell Henley. The Englishman is seeking his first PGA Tour title, while Cantlay is in contention after falling down the rankings following the 2023 Ryder Cup.

Fleetwood, who has had 44 top-10 finishes on the American circuit, birdied four successive holes on the front nine before rolling in a putt on the 13th to move three clear. However, he double-bogeyed the par-three 15th and was tied with Cantlay at 16 under.

Cantlay closed with a bogey-free round of 64, holing a birdie putt on the last hole to set the target for the leaders. He is seeking a captain’s pick from US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley to make his third successive team.

The leaderboard is also home to world number one Scottie Scheffler, who is lurking at 12 under after a 66. However, he was frustrated with his short game and threw his putter in anger on several occasions.

Other players, including Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre and Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, are still in contention but face stiff competition to secure their Ryder Cup spots.
